Insist that someone from the company come to your home to give you an estimate for the services, to see everything that needs to be moved.

Does the Cost Cover Insurance?
Does the cost of the moving service cover insurance for your belongings, and insurance for their employees? You want to make sure that if there is an accident while the items are being loaded and moved, your items will be replaced, or you will get the cash value of the items. You also want to know all of their employees are covered under their insurance policy, so you don't get sued for medical expenses or lost wages.
Can You Show Proof of State Licensure?
It isn't difficult to get a truck and pretend you're a professional moving company, so ask the professional coming to provide the estimate if they have proof they are licensed movers. They shouldn't just be a registered business, but a professional moving company.
What are the Costs?
It's important that the company is upfront about all costs. Once they give you the estimate, ask them to include taxes and any other possible fees. Ask them how long the estimate is good for, and if that will be the exact amount that you pay.
Ask about the deposit amount, when it is due, and if all of the deposit is applied to the service. You don't want to reach your destination and have hundreds of dollars in additional fees that you didn't plan for.
